Abstract

This study aims to present the strategies necessary to ensure effective risk management for sustainable urban transportation projects. In this context, a unique decision-making model is presented. In this model, the importance weights of the basic criteria affecting effective risk management are calculated with the spherical fuzzy TOP-DEMATEL technique. The biggest contribution of this study to the literature is the generation of the TOP-DEMATEL technique by making some improvements to the classical DEMATEL. In this way, more accurate analysis results can be obtained. This technique is developed to address criticisms of current methods. The findings indicate that currency risk is the most critical risk for the effectiveness of sustainable urban transportation. Similarly, operational risk and interest rate risk play also a critical role in this situation. However, credit risk and interest rate risk have lower significance for this situation.
