Özet

Abd al-Majeed b. Shayhk Nasuhk b. Israel (d. 1588), also known as Tosyevi, grew up in a Sufi environment. Tosyevi, who was closely acquainted with various Sufi orders thanks to his grandfather and father, translated The Lavayi. written by Jami (d. 1492). Tosyevi named his translation, The Tarcama al-Lavayi.. The Lavayi. was about theoretical mysticism and the unity of being and was reproduced in Turkish through different means such as direct translation and adaptation by different authors, both during the Ottoman period and afterward. Naturally, each translator had a different translation strategy that they observed during the translation, whether consciously or not. To determine the translation strategy of a translator, it was necessary to use translation theories, but unfortunately, the number of studies that combine translation studies and Ottoman translations was not sufficient. This article aimed to present the transcribed text of Tosyevi's work, The Tarcama al-Lavayi. and The Lavayi. were compared in terms of translation and the translation strategy that Tosyevi adopted is shown by several examples. It was claimed that Tosyevi made use of such practices as adding, subtracting, and rearranging the Persian text, and examples of them are presented.
