Today, emerging needs of
technology ask for much superior performance of materials. Polymer composites
are a popular way of creating new polymeric materials with desired properties. However,
today wastes of plastics bring with them very serious environmental problems. These
plastic wastes consist of mainly food and daily consumption packaging and other
domestic and industrial wastes. Degradation of plastics in nature in itself
includes a very long period of time. Therefore, making recyclable plastic by
recycling plastics provides a significant economic gain. It also plays an
important role in the protection of natural resources. In this study; Polymer
composite was obtained by using recycled pp and rice husk. Recycled polypropylene and rice husk
materials were be granulated by mixing in the twin screw extruder to obtain a
homogeneous mixture. 5, 10, 20, 30 percent rice husk were added to recycled PP.
In order to ensure adhesion between the recycled PP and the rice husk, 5% of
polypropylene copolymer (MA-g-PP) grafted into the mixture with 5% maleic
anhydride were added. by using the obtained granules, the test specimens
conform to standards were printed in the injection molding machine. The samples; tensile, hardness, impact,
density, SEM tests were carried out and the effect of the rice husk was
observed.
