Özet

ALIMET®, a trade name for 2-hydroxy-4-(methylthio) butanoic acid (DL-HMTBA), is a liquid feed supplement that provides a highly absorbable form of the essential amino acid DL-methionine [1]. ALIMET® supports antioxidant status, growth and muscle protein synthesis. In dairy cows, it helps to meet the demand for high-quality milk. Nowadays, its use with certain metals as additives such as Zn, Ca, etc. is also investigated. Present study aims to understand the binding efficiency and mechanism of L-methionine with metal ions as well as the metabolism of 2-hydroxy-4-(methylthio) butanoic acid. DFT calculations together with molecular docking are used to understand the intermolecular interactions and binding mechanism.
