MIGRATION OF THE PLASTIC FILM – PACKAGE COMPONENTS

ABSTRACT
Nowadays plastics are preferred for so many reasons such as being lightweight, being in a flexible/hard structure and being able to resistant against crushing and other hits. These plastic packages are common in packaging many products especially ın food. Migration is used to define the transfer and the interaction of the chemical materials used in packaging with the food. The migration in plastic packages depends on some factors as; structure of the food, interaction duration, interaction heat, package structure and the components in it. Especially the monomers being free in the structure of the plastics which are inappropriately processed and the low weighted compounds are the reasons for the migration. Having migration over some definite levels can cause negative effects in terms of human health.
In the concept of the study, the factors revealing the migration, the effect of the chemicals in plastic package materials over the migration are examined via migration tests at printed and non-printed plastic packages.
