Reading comprehension in science education is seen as a skill that students should acquire today and plays an important role in achieving international goals for science education. It is even more important to investigate the competences and opinions of pre-service science teachers who will introduce reading comprehension into science lessons. In addition, the level of preparation of the students was assessed using the BMDART key developed by the scientists. When the texts with scientific content prepared by most of the pre-service science teachers are evaluated within the framework of the BMDARTs activities, they are at a sufficient level. It was observed that they were more successful in terms of question variety and higher order thinking skills when they prepared questions for the science texts they created according to the DARTs strategy. The pre-service science teachers were found to be inadequate in finding and using resources for reading comprehension texts.
