91st Textile Institute World Conference (TIWC 2018), Leeds, Birleşik Krallık, 23 - 26 Temmuz 2018
The aim of the research was to increase of hydrophilicity and also water/oil repellency of 100% polyester
woven fabrics with different finishing agents, concentrations and methods.
In this study, four different finishing agents were applied to polyester fabrics by various methods. The
samples of 100% polyester woven fabric were finished with a mixture of aromatic carboxylic acid
compounds, a moisture management agent, an oil/water repellent agent and nano oil/water repellent agent by
exhaust (2, 3, 6 and 10 %) and padding (20, 40 and 60 g/L) methods (Aydogan, 2009). The CIE Whiteness
and the Yellowness Indexes, wrinkle recovery angle, Elmendorf tearing strength, contact angle water droplets
(dynamic/static) properties of all treated fabric samples and aqueous liquid repellency: water/alcohol solution
resistance, water repellency:spray, oil repellency:hydrocarbon resistance and UV absorption test results of
treated fabric samples by exhaust with the oil/water repellent agent and the nano oil/water repellent agent
were investigated and compared with each other.
