Özet

Miniature, which dates back to very old times, is the painting art of east. This art starts its adventure as a mural in Uyghur frescoes and takes its place in the pages of books in later centuries. Miniature formed from the root of Latin word “miniare” and transformed to the Italian language as “miniatura”. It is called in our language for the people who works with miniature art “muralist/painter” which means “nakkaş”. Miniature means a different point of view. In miniature, nature, figures and places is depicted in a stlyzed way instead of drawing them directly as seen. Without chiaroscuro light shade the colours are clear in the visuals and using shadows is avoided. While blending with the interaction of different styles, these manuscripts are the references shed light on the art history. The connection in different ages of process and development of miniature art ,which we think started with the Uyghur manuscripts and the interacted until reaching to Ottoman Empire, shed light on the contemporary miniature art.
