Since the 2000s in Türkiye, the search for innovation and disciplinary changes in geography have been reflected in the sub-discipline of historical geography. This study examines and evaluates the most recent evolution of historical geography in Türkiye, its research agenda, actors, and trends between 2020 and 2025. Within the scope of this study, the data were obtained from the curricula vitae of researchers publishing in the sub-discipline of historical geography in Türkiye, as well as from online databases of publications in this sub-discipline. The period is characterized by the growing prominence of historical human geography within Türkiye's historical geography agenda – particularly historical settlement geography – as well as by the increasingly extensive use of digital tools and resources. While studies on historical settlement geography, historical population geography, historical urban geography, research methods and sources in historical geography, and the development of the discipline itself have been at the forefront over the past five years, historical geographers have also conducted research in the sub-discipline of historical physical geography, with a particular emphasis on natural disasters. In this respect, historical geography in Türkiye continues to advance through thematic diversification and projects developed within the framework of interdisciplinary collaboration.
