Background. Although treatment with oral corticosteroids can cause reactivation of latent Mycobacterium tuberculosis (TB) infection in purified protein derivative (PPD)-positive individuals with no evidence of clinical disease, little is known about the effects of inhaled corticosteroids in this respect.
