Özet

The integration of Generative AI with Virtual and Augmented Reality technologies represents a significant shift in educational approaches, facilitating immersive learning experiences through personalized and adaptive environments for students. This chapter examines the interplay of these technologies in facilitating personalized learning, enhancing engagement and collaboration, and promoting critical thinking. Generative AI offers adaptive content customized to individual learner requirements, effectively integrating with the immersive characteristics of VR/AR to enhance comprehension and learner satisfaction. This concept is implemented via scenario-based adaptive simulations, allowing students to engage in life-like events consistent with Constructivist and Situated Learning Theories. Real-time feedback and dynamic content adjustment, aligned with the learner’s progress, will mitigate cognitive overload and improve focus, as supported by Cognitive Load Theory and the Theory of Flow. Generative AI, integrated into immersive technologies, enables authentic assessment of performance in complex, real-world tasks that support critical thinking and problem-solving skills. Instructional designers can strategically leverage the integration of such technologies to enrich learning experiences, address practical challenges, and lead effective implementations by drawing on frameworks like TPACK, SAMR, and Technology Acceptance Models. The ethical considerations in utilizing such technologies are equally significant, particularly regarding data privacy and equitable access. This synthesis of Generative AI and immersive learning technologies presents a future-oriented approach to education, integrating instructional design, learner engagement, and assessment to create a deeper, more accessible, and effective learning experience.
