Introduction: The data in the present study emphasized the important role and contribution of
the pharmacist in improving oral health.The aim of this study is to assess pharmacists’ knowledge
and attitudes regarding oral healthcare and oral hygiene products in Turkey.
Material and Methods: 132 pharmacists were participated in this study. The questionnaire was
composed of 26 closed-ended questions. The questionnaire was divided into five sections.
Results: The mean age of pharmacists was 33.6±8 years. The graduation years of pharmacists
were between 1979-2015. 132 pharmacists participated in this study. The ranking are evaluated
according to the sales amount of the products; toothpaste, toothbrushes, mouthwashes, pacifiers
and baby bottles followed by dental floss. Average one patient with dental problems visits their
pharmacies one or twice a week. Toothache is the most common dental problem.
Conclusion: The data in the present study emphasized the important role and contribution of the
pharmacist in improving oral health. It is seen the fact that pharmacists’ knowledge about dental
market products is low in Turkey and 69% of pharmacists think that they are not qualified in that issue.
