Turkey
Bibliotherapy, which is a non-pharmaceutical intervention, is one of the
important issues that have come to the agenda of field workers, especially
after the pandemic process. With the increasing need of society for healing,
there is an increase in scientific research in this field. Especially with the
increase in applications in libraries in terms of information and record
management, it is necessary to know the previous studies on bibliotherapy.
Within the scope of this study, scientific studies in the field of bibliotherapy in
Turkey have been compiled and classified through literature review and
analyzed within the framework of determined parameters. There are many
scientific studies in Turkey that help us to see the diversity and general trends
of research in the field of bibliotherapy and to understand the impact of this
technique on the well-being, psychological and mental health of individuals.
The reviewed studies show the positive impact of bibliotherapy on
individuals’ mental health. It is seen that most of these studies are produced in
the fields of education, psychology, religion and literature. In particular,
scientific studies have been conducted on the effect and usability of
bibliotherapy technique in areas such as Turkish lessons, educational
programs and professional development of teachers, and the applications of
bibliotherapy in different fields such as religious education, professional stress
management and family counseling have been discussed. Some studies have
examined how bibliotherapy works with different age groups, psychological
states and cultural contexts. Especially within the scope of art therapy,
scientific studies have been conducted linking art disciplines such as theater
and cinema. Studies on the effects of bibliotherapy on children, adolescents,
adults and individuals with special needs have examined how children’s
literature and fairy tales can be used in applications the effects of this
technique on emotional well-being and psychological health, its role in
psychological counseling and guidance, its effect on gifted children and
individuals with psychological disorders. This study provides an in-depth
