18. Uluslararası Türk Ortodonti Derneği Sempozyumu, İstanbul, Türkiye, 27 - 30 Ekim 2023, ss.472-473, (Özet Bildiri)
AIM: The aim of this case report is to present the orthopedic and orthodontic treatment of a patient with
skeletal Class II malocclusion with the Stöckli-Teuscher appliance.
MATERIAL-METHOD: In the extraoral examination of the male patient who applied to our clinic with the
complaint of profile view and overjet, it was found that he had a convex profile and incompetent lip closure.
In the intraoral examination he had angle Class II malocclusion on both sides and increased overjet (7.1
mm). In cephalometric examination; Skeletal Class II relationship due to mandibular developmental
deficiency (SNA: 83°, SNB: 77°, ANB: 6°), increased upper and lower incisors angles (U1-SN: 110°,
IMPA: 99°) were detected. It was planned to use the Stöckli-Teuscher appliance for the treatment of
skeletal Class II relationship, followed by fixed orthodontic treatment. Stöckli-Teuscher appliance was
used for 11 months and after 15 months of fixed orthodontic treatment, angle Class I molar and canine
relationship was obtained and the treatment was completed.
RESULTS: After the treatment, the SNA angle remained stable, and the ANB angle decreased from
6° to 2°. The patient’s upper incisor angle decreased (U1-SN: 102°), while the lower incisor angle was
relatively increased (IMPA: 100°).
CONCLUSION: With good cooperation, the Stöckli-Teuscher appliance is a treatment option in the
orthopedic treatment of skeletal Class II malocclusion.
