Özet

The aim of the present study was to investigate the effects of barium zirconate additive (BaZrO3; between 1 to 5% in weight) on the microstructural and mechanical properties of bovine hydroxyapatite (BHA). BHA without BaZrO3 additive reached to density of 2.86 g/cm3 , hardness of 4.19 GPa and compressive strength of 115.75 MPa, when it was sintered at 1300 oC. At same temperature, its density and compressive strength values improved to 2.96 gr/cm3 and 173.66 MPa by the BaZrO3 addition of 3 wt%.
