11th InASEA Conference 2024: In, Out and In Between Transnational and Internal Migration in Southeast Europe, Priştine, Kosova, 19 - 22 Eylül 2024, ss.75
Türkiye has undergone a significant transition from being a substantial
emigration region to becoming a destination for immigrants since the early
2000s. As the country began to attract new immigrants, particularly from
former Soviet Bloc countries and the Middle East and North Africa (MENA)
region, migration scholarship on Türkiye has started to center around these
issues. Utilizing bibliometric techniques, this research examines this scholarly
literature to identify key themes, emerging patterns, and influential works in the
field. By analyzing publication trends, citation patterns, and thematic clusters, the study aims to provide insights into the evolving landscape of international
migration research (IMR) in Türkiye over the period between 2000 and 2024.
Bibliometric analysis is essential for understanding trajectories regarding IMR
since it helps identify research trends, assess knowledge gaps, understand policy
implications, track international collaboration, and inform decision-making.
The last two decades have seen Türkiye emerge as a pivotal player in migratory
movements, serving as a buffer zone. This transformation makes it imperative
to comprehend these issues. In order to address this matter, the analysis will be
run by VOSviewer software, helping figure out scholarly literature to discern
key themes, influential authors, research clusters and evolving discourse.
The findings of this analysis further seek to deepen our understanding of the
complexities involved in international migration by offering a more critical
and nuanced perspective on the present state of the field and potential future
trajectories. Hence, the research attempts to underscore the importance of
employing bibliometric methods in interrogating the current trends and patterns
within interdisciplinary domains like IMR.
