Hate speech is a set of expressions that contain a sense of hatred towards an individual or a group and are used to encourage all kinds of negative practices or practices. All of the negative expressions produced within the scope of hate speech and the environments in which they are disseminated are social media environments. Hate speech in the Turkish language is frequently encountered in social media environments; however, the number of studies on this subject is quite low compared to the number of studies conducted in the English language. In addition, to our knowledge, there is not yet a comprehensive literature review on hate speech in the Turkish language. This study has been prepared to fill this gap and to benefit both commercial and academic platforms that aim to conduct research on this subject. In this literature review, hate speech studies in the Turkish language are analysed in detail based on the categories of application-based studies and social analysis-based studies. In addition, the basic concepts, learning algorithms and natural language processing techniques are also explained for the benefit of all other researchers who plan to conduct studies on this topic. In addition, this study also includes additional sections that may be useful for the readers, such as the challenges specific to the Turkish hate speech problem, possible future studies, and the current state of hate speech studies in other languages. To the best of our knowledge, this literature review is the first study on the Turkish hate speech problem that includes all these sections in detail.
