Environmental biotechnology is the integration of natural sciences and engineering for development of environment-friendly processes in order to

– develop, use and regulate biological systems for the treatment of waste materials

– produce value-added chemicals and bio-energy from bio-waste

Marmara University Environmental Biotechnology & Resource Recovery Group MEBiG develops novel technologies based on microbiological systems to improve treatment of solid, liquid and gaseous wastes and to convert wastes to value added products.

MEBiG concentrates its research in two main areas:

– Anaerobic fermentation and biomethanization

– Resource recovery
