Introduction Ventriculoperitoneal shunt operations are the most common pediatric neurosurgical procedures in the treatment of hydrocephalus. However, ventricular shunting is frequently associated with a wide variety of complications. Umbilical perforation is an extremely rare complication of ventriculoperitoneal shunts.
