Sitti Acem’in görüşleri son yıllarda kadın bir sufi müellif oluşu üzerinden ele alınmaya

başlanmıştır. Bu makalede Sitti Acem’in hayatı ele alınacak ve onun Meşâhid şerhine

ilişkin yapılmış çalışmalar değerlendirilecektir.

Mashāhid al-asrār (Contemplations of the Holy Mysteries) as one of the first books of Ibn al-

’Arabī which he wrote in Maghrib. It is a small epistle which he explained his ideas hiding

them behind a symbolic and poetic and then put in a systematic way in his Fusūs al-hikam

and Futūhāt al-Makkiyya. The work consists of the experiences of the contemplator; Ibn

al-‘Arabī and his the conversations with God in the fourteen contemplation scenes. Ibn

Sawdakīn, the student of Ibn al-‘Arabī, Sitt al-‘Ajam and Zayn al-’Ābidīn al-Munāwī

annotated Mashāhid and Abd al-Wahhāb al-Sha’rānī mentioned in it his works and

explained some of its chapters. Among the annotators, Sitt al-‘Ajam comes to the fore

with the commentary she wrote through her subjective experiences with a vocabulary

which appears could not maintain its effect on the literature. Sitt al-‘Ajams views, have

begun to be discussed in recent years considering her female Sufi author aspect. In this

article, beside the bibliographic information on Sitt al‘Ajam’s life, which there is not any

information about in Turkish sources, the literature related to Sitt al-Ajams views and her

commentary on Mashāhid will be evaluated.
