Özet

Sulphur dioxide (SO2) and carbon dioxide (CO2) are treated with bentonites taken from different regions of Anatolia. In spectra recorded using FTIR spectroscopy technique, certain shifts have been observed in terms of vibrational frequencies in comparison to free state. Sulphur atoms are found to be adsorbed by SO2 from the edge sulphur atoms, being connected from the edge to exchangeable cations in clay structure. However, most of CO2 molecules pass through the interlayers of the clay because they interact least.
