In today’s rapidly advancing technological landscape, smart-home technologies are undergoing widespread adoption among consumers. Advancements in information and communication technologies have deeply integrated smart systems into our daily lives. However, adoption of them is influenced by various factors. Systematic analysis of these factors forms an important research area that requires understanding complex relationships between technological advancements and consumer behaviors. This study examines effective factors in adoption and recommendation of smart-home technologies, considering uncertainties in decision-making processes. The “Probabilistic Linguistic Term Sets” is used as data type to leverage the advantage of combining diverse perspectives, while considering uncertainties. After identifying factors with literature review, data was collected from 117 participants via survey. Factor weights were calculated, and both interrelationships between factors and their overall trends were analyzed across 212 scenarios using Pearson correlation. The findings proven high adoption rates for technologies that offer clear and tangible benefits, and increasing interest as these technologies become more affordable. However, alongside increasing concerns about data privacy and security, doubts caused by technological illiteracy is observed. The insights from this study can enhance understanding of smart home technology adoption processes among industry stakeholders, thereby facilitating the development of new strategies to increase adoption rates.
