Project Abstract

In this project, the production of microcapsulles which include phase change materials (PCMs) to use for textiles, the application of these materials by various methods in order to provide thermoregulation for textile products and to investigate the performance of the PCM applied materials are aimed at. Between the phase change temperatures, the clothings that contain the PCMs in the fibre or on the fabric can help the wearer to feel more confortable by providing thermoregulation in case of any sudden temperature changes in the environment. As the climate changes and broad use of textile products (active sportswear, medical textiles, home textiles, etc,) are taken into consideration, development of thermoregulation property will add an important value to the textile products, especially will contribute to the growing of smart textiles.

 

The main outline of the project is as follows:

 

·         Microencapsulation and/or nanoencapsulation of phase change materials in the core, such as coconut oil, paraffin waxes, etc., that have high thermal energy storage capacity, which are durable after application on the textile and characterization of these capsules,
