Project Abstract

As Marmara University School of Applied Sciences Department of Printing Technologies, we organized the

2nd International Symposium on Printing Technology between 10-12 October 2019. We, the symposium

organization board, were happy and satisfied to have hosted this scientific and multi-pronged sharing

platform comprising all areas of printing at Ord. Prof. Dr. Nihat Sayar Conference Hall in our university,

which has the historical and cultural richness of İstanbul.

In our age, rapid production of information brings a new dimension in the concept of competition, which

depends on a rapid technological development, and cheap labor force and sense of competition based on

natural resources are replaced by manufacturing technologies that could compete in international markets.

In this context, it has become important to develop an industry that pursues consumer preferences, uses

a flexible structure of production, local resources and a high-quality labor force, applies a modern sense

of enterprise, regards research and development (r&d), produces technology, creates genuine designs and

trademarks and competes in international markets. This industry will only be developed by scientists in

cooperation of university and industry with the help of common projects. Symposiums have become the

best platforms serving this purpose, bringing university and industry together and sharing knowledge.

In this symposium, we aim to bring researchers and sector representatives from our country and different

countries together and contribute to sharing knowledge and research results among scientists intensely

within

the frame of technologies that develop and advance in the printing sector. As well as rapid communication

and virtual environments, we believe that such activities are not only scientific among academicians,

researchers, sector workers and students, but also important for providing an intercultural interaction and

interpersonal social communication.

We would like to thank invited spokesmen who shared their experiences and knowledge with us, dear

researchers who enriched our symposium with their assertion or poster presentations, our guests who

attended as audience, sector representatives who always support us and those who contributed to the success

of our symposium; members of organization board and our academician colleagues in particular.

Besides, I would like to thank those who supported us in organizing this symposium, particularly our

University and Scientific Research Projects Unit of our University (M.Ü.BAPKO FEN L-090517-0281),

as well as notable and privileged corporate companies of our sector; Böttcher, Odak Chemistry, Xerox,

Sinangin, Acar Printing, Filmon and Matset firm which contributed to printing the Symposium

Proceedings Book in the name of my institution and the Symposium Board.
