Stroke is a major cause of morbidity and mortality worldwide. Generally, the etiology of stroke includes intracerebral hemorrhage and cerebral ischemia. Prompt diagnosis might lead to earlier and more appropriate therapies, and thus beneficially impact prognosis. At present, acute stroke differential diagnosis is predominantly based on brain imaging, including computed tomography and magnetic resonance imaging. During the past years, the search for stroke biomarkers has made great progress. Among the validated diagnostic biomarkers, heart fatty acid binding protein (HFAP) is the most promising. In this study, we aimed to obtain a diagnostic value if there is any difference between HFABP level and ischemic stroke-like syndrome levels in patients with acute ischemic stroke diagnosed by radiological imaging with stroke or stroke-like symptoms that started within 24 hours of our emergency department. There is a need to determine whether the threshold value can be determined. We also devised a diagnostic value study to answer this question with our project.
