The MedVET support training programme will reinforce the qualification of the medical professionals working in Obstetrics and Gyneacology, and Neonatology (gynecologists, neonatologist, midwifes, nurses, carers) by giving them opportunity to acquire specific skills and knowledge that they can apply while communicating and supporting family members of newborns with congenital disabilities. Thus, the medical professionals will be able to facilitate those aspects of their clinical practice that are not directly linked to the treatment but to communication and interaction with the patients and family members. The training programme will equip them with communication skills related to shearing of delicate medical and social information and skills for negotiating with the family the best possible support solutions for the newborn with congenital disabilities. Both the training programme and the peer support portal will ensure that the medical professionals will have access to thematic materials, best practice examples and cases which will help them to achieve high quality and relevant support in the mentioned field.
