-------------------- ABSTRACT The Arabic language grammar, which is conceptualized by the word “Nahw”, has been formed as a part of Islamic science since the first century of Islamic history. Nahw took its place in the renewal movements that emerged in these sciences in the 19th century which became synonymous with the concept of renewal. The regeneration works in Arabic grammar have been carried out in two areas, namely for the teaching of Arabic Language and for linguistic studies. In this study, the reasons behind the renewal movements, the guiding effects and the main issues that constitute the content of these initiatives are discussed with their theoretical dimensions. The first of the theoretical foundations of the renewal movements in the Arabic grammar is the reality created by the change in the Arab and Islamic world in the 19th century. In the last two centuries, this reality has been met with criticisms of the nahw tradition of the linguists and then continued with the attempts to restructure nahw. For this reason, in this study both the criticisms and the responses to these criticisms were examined as well as the studies on the restructuring of the Arabic grammar with the emphasis on the theoretical parts. When we look at the works that have been created in the last two centuries, we can say that the Nahivic regeneration movements are prepared to take their place in history as a stage of development of the Arabic grammar history. At this stage, regeneration, in terms of resources, has benefited from the accumulation in its own history, on the other hand it has benefited from the linguistic studies that emerged in the West in the last two centuries. The reformist linguists criticized the deficiencies in the Arabic grammar tradition, provided theoretical and practical suggestions for nahw restructuring, and demonstrated studies in this field. These linguists have considered Arabic as a language of history and as a living language. During this reform process, the linguists tried to implement new methods in teaching Arabic language and on the other hand, they tried to restructure nahw through modern linguistic studies.
