Özet:Verem, Koch basili denen mikropların solunum yoluyla alınması ve akciğerlere yerleşmesiyle meydana gelen bulaşıcı bir hastalıkken zamanla edebiyat dünyasında romantik bir hastalık haline gelmiştir. Türk edebiyatında verem temasına çok sayıda eserde değinildiğini, yer verildiğini söylemek mümkündür. 19. yüzyılda romantizm etkisi ile pek çok eserde verem bir aşk hastalığı olarak işlenmiştir. Eser kahramanlarının verem ile acıyı sonuna kadar yaşama isteği bir nevi aşklarını yüceltme biçimi olmuştur. Yeni Türk edebiyatında verem teması, Tanzimat döneminden itibaren görülmeye başlamıştır. Bundan sonraki dönemlerde de verem temasına sıklıkla yer verilmiştir. Biz de verem temasının dönemden döneme nasıl işlendiğini belirlemeye çalıştık. Yazarlar veremi, eseri daha trajik hale getirmek ve okuyucuda merhamet duygusu uyandırmak amacıyla kullanmışlardır. Bu tip eserlerde kötümser ve melankolik bir hava hakimdir. Biz bu çalışmamızda 19. Yüzyıl Türk Edebiyatında verem temasını metin merkezli inceleyerek veremin roman kahramanına, eserin kurgusuna etkisini incelemeye çalıştık. ABSTRACT Tuberculosis, is referred as an infectious disease which exists because of the bacteria called "Koch" that can be inhaled and become a part in the lungs. But in time, in literature world it becamelike a romantic illness. In Turkish literature, it is possible to say that Tuberculosis theme has been touched on and given a place oftenly in literature pieces. Tuberculosis has been referred as a romantic love ilness in almost all the literature pieces under the influence of romance literature movement in the 19th century. The wish of the characters of the literature pieces to suffer till the end is referred as a way to glorify their loves. In current Turkish literature, Tuberculosis theme has been seen after the Tanzimat reform era. In the eras after the Tanzimat reform era, tuberculosis theme has been referred oftenly. In this research, we tried to discover, how and in what ways the tuberculosis theme has been given a place in the pieces. Authors used the tuberculosis as a way to get more tragical pieces. And to increase the readers's feeling of mercy. In this type of pieces, pessimistic and melancholic effect is dominant. In our research, we examined the tuberculosis theme in text- centered way and the effect of the tuberculosis to the novel characters and to the fiction of the pieces.
