ABSTRACT In this study, the complex adaptive system of international trade between the developed and developing countries has been analysed utilising an agent-based network model whose behaviour rules were defined by evolutionary prisoner’s dillemma game. Within this context, the study employed the contention of Prebisch-Singer hypothesis in order to modelise the trade relations between the developed and developing countries. To that end at first, in modelling the trade relations 10000 experiments were performed by adding shortcuts to the agent-based network model via Newman-Watts method. In doing so the number of links, which reveal the small world network that best represents the real world markets, were identified. Later on, the builded agent-based network model was first analysed without counting in developmental differentialities among countries. And than, the analysis was repeated by defining agents as developed and developing countries with the intention of testing the contention of Prebish-Singer hypothesis.
