SUMMARY Aim: The aim of this study, was to compare the effectiveness of the different shaping and filling techniques in the oval shaped root canals. Methodology: 150 single-root premolar extracted and revealed presence of oval canal were used in this study. The roots were instrumented by using Reciproc system and Step-Back technique and then specimens were randomly divided into five groups and obturated by using lateral condensation, Microseal technique, Obtura, System B and Soft-Core technique with Kerr root canal sealer. Then the teeth were stored for 7 days at room temperature and %100 humidity, and embedded in foam mold. After that axial, sagittal, coronal scans were obtained using cone-beam computed tomography, OnDemad3D-App software program was used to measure the volume percentage of gutta-percha and sealer and void percentage in the coronal, middle, apical thirds of each canal. Results: The obturated teeth with lateral condensation technique statistically showed the higher percentage filling material than Soft-Core technique and no statistically significant difference was detected among the other groups (p<0.01). The teeth with Step-Back technique shaping and filling statistically showed the higher percentage filling material than reciproc system (p<0.05). Conclusions: All of used filling techniques were effective in oval shaped canals, but lateral condensation technique showed more gutta-percha+sealer content than soft core technique.   Key words: cone-beam computed tomography, lateral condensation, oval canal, Reciproc system, thermoplasticized gutta-percha techniques
