Özet:TÜRK DENİZCİLİĞİ’NDE COĞRAFYA EĞİTİMİ Başlangıçta denizlerle bağlantısı sınırlı olan Türklerin, Anadolu jeopolitiğini en iyi şekilde kullanmak istemeleriyle, denizlerin önemini anlamaları çok kısa zaman almıştır. Osmanlı’da Fatih Sultan Mehmet ile başlayan coğrafya ve haritalara ilgi sonraki dönemlerde de artarak devam etmiş, Topkapı Sarayı’nda eşsiz bir harita koleksiyonu oluşturulmuş, devlet coğrafyasının genişlemesi ve imparatorluk hâline gelmesiyle, Türk Deniz Gücü tüm dünyada etkin rol oynamaya başlamıştır. Duraklama ve gerileme dönemlerinde ise diğer alanlarda olduğu gibi denizcilik faaliyetlerinde de durgun bir döneme girilmiştir. Ancak düzenli eğitim kurumlarının bu dönemde faaliyete başlaması da göz ardı edilemeyecek bir gerçektir. Cumhuriyet Dönemi’yle başlayan hızlı değişim, pek çok alanda olduğu gibi Türk Denizciliği’nde de etkilerini göstermiştir. Türkiye gerek güvenlik, gerekse ekonomik açıdan denizlere tam bağımlıdır ve tarihsel süreçte de görüldüğü üzere bir yarımada üzerinde yer alan ülkemiz, denizlerin ihmal edildiği dönemlerde tehdit ve işgâllere uğramış, güçlü deniz kuvvetlerine sahip olduğu dönemlerde ise barış ve istikrar içinde olmuştur. Bu durum, Türk Deniz Kuvvetleri’ne düşen görevin ve kuvvet personelinin eğitiminin ne derece önemli olduğunu açığa çıkarmaktadır. Buna bağlı olarak, Deniz Kuvvetleri’nde görevli personelin dışında, Türk Denizciliği’nde özel sektörde de görev alan personelin eğitiminde coğrafya eğitimindeki gelişmeler ve bilgi teknolojisi olanaklarının kullanımı, bu birimlerin görev etkinliği ve verimliliğini arttırarak ülkenin deniz menfaat ve egemenliğine katkı sağlayacaktır. Kültürel ve tarihsel zenginliklerimizin eğitim sistemimimiz içinde daha fazla yer almasını ve kaynak olmasını sağlamak amacıyla hazırladığımız bu çalışmada; öncelikle amaç ve yöntemler belirlenmiş, Türk Denizciliği’nin eğitim birimlerinde tarihsel süreçte coğrafya eğitiminin yeri ve önemi tespit edilmeye çalışılmıştır. Anahtar Sözcükler: Eğitim, Harekât, Coğrafi Bilgi Sistemleri, Jeopolitik, Harita ABSTRACT GEOGRAPHY EDUCATION IN TURKISH MARITIMES It took Turks whose connection with seas was limited at the beginning, a very short time to understand the importance of the seas when they wanted to use the geopolitics of Anatolia in the best manner possible. The interest in geography and maps in Ottomans had begun with the Sultan Mehmed the Conqueror increasingly continued progressively in later periods and as the geography of the state expanded, turning into an empire, Turkish Naval Forces start to play an important role globally. In the stagnation and retardation periods, on the other hand, like in other fields, a stagnant period started in the marine force as well. However, it is a reality which cannot be disregarded that regular educational institutions started to operate in that period, too. The rapid change which started with the Republic Period like in many other fields, has demonstrated an impact on Turkish Maritimes, too. Turkey is entirely dependent on the seas in terms of both security and also economy and our country, which is situated on a peninsula like observed through history, has been victim of threats and occupation in periods when seas were neglected, being in peace and stability in periods when he had powerful marine forces. This demonstrates how important the task resting with Turkish Naval Forces and training of the personnel of these forces. Also, beyond personnel assigned to Naval Forces, the developments in geography education of personnel employed in the private sector in Turkish Maritimes and use of information technology capabilities will contribute to the marine interest and sovereignty of the country, enhancing the duty, effectiveness and productivity of these units. In this study, we prepared to ensure that our cultural and historical wealth are more prevalent in our educational system serving as resources firstly purpose and methods were specified in an attempt to determine the place and significance of geography education through history in the educational units of Turkish Maritimes.
